In 1993 werd deze 900 turbo afgeleverd bij de Saab-dealer aan Ventura Boulevard in Hollywood en de originele afleverfactuur toont een lange, lange lijst aan opties. De auto spendeerde de daaropvolgende 28 jaar in het auto-walhalla van Zuid-Californië, langs de boulevards van Greater Los Angeles. In 2021 verliet ‘ie die omgeving om naar Nederland te worden verscheept. Wij verkopen de auto nu voor de Nederlandse eigenaar die ‘m direct uit Californië kocht en de zorgvuldig bijgehouden papierwinkel voortzette. En hoe! Alle papieren van de jaarlijkse smogtest voor de staat Californië zijn keurig bewaard, maar in Nederland werden de puntjes pas echt uitvoerig op de i gezet. En dat is beslist geen overdrijving. Het pakket facturen bij deze auto is ongekend. We hebben ze niet allemaal nagekeken, maar volgens het taxatierapport is er 65.000 euro in de Saab geïnvesteerd en wanneer je de auto goed bekijkt, is er geen reden om daaraan te twijfelen. De auto heeft sinds nieuw 188.000 kilometer gereden en sinds de restauratie in 2021 ongeveer 5.000 kilometer.

Vrijwel alles aan deze Classic Cabrio is dan ook om door een ringetje te halen. De carrosserie is in zijn geheel opnieuw gespoten in hoogglanzend pianozwarte lak. De motor is grotendeels gereviseerd, het leren interieur is geheel vernieuwd met een boterzachte leersoort in de oorspronkelijke kleur. De (originele) opties bestaan onder meer uit Hella-spots vooraan, houtfineer op deuren en dashboard, airco, achteruitrijdsensoren, een leren Nardi-sportstuur, front mounted intercooler en sportuitlaat en alles is in een topstaat en functioneert zoals het hoort. Onder de kap is een upgrade gemaakt naar Trionic 5 en een bak met shortshift. Het is allemaal werkelijk even netjes - zelfs het hitteschild van de turbo glanst en voor de complete wielophanging geldt precies hetzelfde. Je zou er haast niet mee in de regen durven rijden. Dit is dan ook een 900 die zeker niet zou misstaan op het gemanicuurde grasveld van een internationaal concours d’élégance - op Pebble Beach in Californië, waar hij waarschijnlijk ettelijke malen langs is gereden, of dichter bij huis.

Those of you who are in the market for the ultimate Saab 900 classic convertible could look for an exceptionally beautiful car with good mileage, and then replace everything on it that shows even the slightest sign of use or wear. But you could also buy a car on which all that has already been done. Well, this is one of them.

In 1993, this 900 turbo was delivered to the Saab dealer on Ventura Boulevard in Hollywood and the original delivery invoice shows a long, long list of options. The car spent the next 28 years in the automotive mecca of Southern California, along the boulevards of Greater Los Angeles. In 2021, it left that environment to be shipped to the Netherlands. We are now selling the car for the Dutch owner who bought it directly from its Californian owner and continued the carefully maintained paperwork. And how! All the slips from the annual smog test for the state of California were neatly kept, but in the Netherlands, a lot more followed as the finishing touches made there were elaborate. And that is by no means an exaggeration. The stack of invoices accompanying this car is unprecedented. We have not checked them all, but according to the valuation report, 65,000 euros were invested in this Saab, and when you take a close look at the car, there is no reason to doubt that. The car has covered 188,000 kilometres since new and about 5,000 kilometres since its restoration in 2021.

Virtually everything about this Classic Convertible is immaculate. The body has been completely repainted in high-gloss piano black paint. The engine has largely been renovated. The leather interior has been completely renewed in its original colour. The (original) options include Hella front spots, wood veneer on doors and dashboard, air conditioning, reversing sensors, a leather Nardi sports steering wheel, FMIC and sports exhaust and everything is in top condition and functioning as it should. Under the bonnet, it has been upgraded to Trionic 5 with a renovated gearbox with shortshift. It is all really splendid - even the heat shield of the turbo shines and exactly the same goes for the complete suspension. You almost wouldn't dare to drive this car in the rain. This really is a 900 that wouldn't look out of place on the manicured lawns of an international concours d'élégance - at Pebble Beach in California, where it has probably been driven several times, or closer to home.
